Just updated HAOS with Core 2025.2.2 - Lost the lot

No browser gets past Loading Data,

I can SSH to it but don’t know what to do.

It did backup before the update but I have no idea how to recover with no GUI from the app or any browser.

Complete failure and just as I was getting comfortable with it. A rerun of a few years ago when I tried then too.

Hi,

Not sure, but could it be the same issue as this?

So it’s not just me then… This is causing chaos and raises significant questions about continued use if it can be destabilised by their core updates with no perceivable way back?

How do you restore an operable system without a GUI to recover from?

I’ve managed to scp the tarball onto another computer but how do I recover from it?

Posting the same rant on multiple threads only makes it less likely that anyone wants to help.

As I said from the other thread- If an update bricked your installation, reinstall Home Assistant as if it is new, then restore from your most recent backup.

Losing the system is not a reason to panic?

Sorry I’m breaking protocol and procedure, can you actually help or are you the protocol police?

You advice to rebuild takes me at least a day, I merely wonder why a backup can’t be restored without the GUI?

Rebuilding us hardly an effective approach when I didn’t brick the system, it was bricked by Core update.

I can hardly rebuild and the update again without knowing the cause otherwise it’s impossible to know it won’t be bricked again.

Ssh in and run

ha core update --version 2025.1.0

Or whatever version you want.

It turned out to be an errant entry in the recorder.yaml of and entry that never before prevented booting, but after the update I’m guessing tolerances were reduced.

My other post was answered and I was taken through some error logs and finally found the offending reference.

Issue closed…
