Amazing thank you, how can i get the newest version to run? in Hacs there is version 0.3.0. available. do i need to update HA to the newest version as well? Thank you for all that great work

It doesn’t need to be the newest version of HA, but I’d always recommend keeping upgraded to at least n-1 or n-2. (1 or 2 releases from current).

As for the integration in HACS, there are a lot of fixes in this release, so I would recommend everyone move to 0.3.0 as soon as they can, it’s a simple process. The current dashboard requires 0.3.0 for all features to work.

One last thing regarding translation. The integration was designed to support translation, but is only in English and Spanish at the moment. For anyone using this dashboard, that isn’t really an issue because the dashboard is doing all the translations that the users of the system see. It just means that when you do the configuration of setting up the system and inputting chores, that will be in English or Spanish.

I can’t get it to work. I installed the integration and went through it’s setup. I followed exact instructions but when I save the yaml for the dashboard it just shows an empty page. What information do I need ton provide in order to get assistance? Thank you.

The most common reason that happens is trying to paste the dashboard into a card rather editing and pasting at the view level, It’s a little confusing if you haven’t worked with the ui views much. Take a look closely at the screenshot and make sure when you paste that you are at the view level.

If it’s not working, take a screenshot of the full web page after you paste but before saving.

I think I did it correctly.

It looks like you are trying to add it from the overall dashboard level, not the at the view level as it was designed for.

Does anyone happen to have a configuration for a household with two children? I’m not sure if I am able to create one myself.

I’m assuming you created the two children in the integration? The dashboards are setup per kid, so you create a view/dashboard for every kid you create in the integration. If you look at the image in my last post, you’ll notice there are views for each of my kids. Does that answer your question?

It does. Thank you.

How do you move where the groups of chores show up?

Here I have Afterschool, Morning, and Night groups. I want the aftershcool group to be in the middle of the Morning and Night groups. Is this possible? From the looks of things it looks like its in ABC order. I could be wrong.

Tasks Pending Approval Not Visible in Admin Section – Kids Chores and Rewards Dashboard
Hi

Thanks a lot for your work !

I have installed the Kids Chores and Rewards Dashboard integration in Home Assistant. Everything seems to be working fine, and the sensor kc_global_chore_pending_approvals correctly reflects the number of tasks pending approval.

However, these tasks do not appear in the admin section for approval. How can I fix this issue?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Can you confirm you are on the newest version of the integration and the newest version of the dashboard, KCD_0.3.6? There have been some issues in the past with approvals, but I expected those have all been addressed in the most recent updates.

If you’re on the newest versions, take a look at the troubleshooting guide to confirm it is a dashboard issue, then feel free to open an issue here: ccpk1/kidschores-ha-dashboard and we’ll get it figured out.

You are correct that labels are displayed in alphabetical order and there isn’t an easy way I can think of to change that handling to custom sort. That said you have a few options:

  1. Change your labels names to something like “1 Morning”, “2 Afternoon”, etc
  2. You could remove the labels from some or completely turn off the option that uses labels for sorting and revert back to the “Today” based sorting. (Today based sorting takes priority over label sorting if you are using them together. Read here for options.) That automatically handles showing morning chores group first, then due today, then due this week. See my example below that does not currently use any label sorting.

I’m unable to get the dashboard to load on mobile devices (iPhone or Android tablet). On my desktop (Chrome) after opening the dashboard, I typically have to refresh the browser 1-2 times, then it loads fine.

Any ideas what might cause these issues? Without working on mobile, the kids won’t ever use it.

Extremely well done project, by the way!

Figured it out. Something was weird with my auto-entities install. Removed all instances from Dashboard resources. Removed from HACS and re-installed. Working now.

Is there an easy way to make the background for each of the cards different color?

So I have another question. I have another login into Home Assistant that im going to use with a touchscreen for the kids to use to check off their chores. I did not give that user “Administrator” access. This prevents the press of the chore buttons. I changed to the user to “Administrator” and was able to push the buttons for their chores. I was trying not to give Admin privileges so they wont have access to make any changes to my home assistant. Any help would be appreciated.

Is there any way to silence the overdue mobile notifications?

The claim notifications are fine because you can approve them from the notification itself but the overdue ones are slightly spammy.
