Iām having some trouble - the old-style dashboard doesnāt work (obviously, it has many dependancies on the old name schema), and when I try and create a new dashboard all of the entities go Unavailable. Iāve tried removing and re-adding the integration but the behaviour is the same. If I reload the integration all of the sensors for my kid come back, except for UI Dashboard Helper which remains Unavailable, and the dashboard shows err-dashboard_helper_missing
Edit: Iām also getting āUnknown error occuredā if I try and edit Kids, Penalties or Chores. I donāt have any Challenges or Achivements so I havenāt tested those. I also seem to be missing various global sensors, I think.
Edit 2: So, it also looks like all entites belonging to the integration go Unavailable every five minutes, on the dot. I thought it was an old āUpdate KidsChore UI Helpersā automation, so I turned it off, but itās still happening! And I just now realised that obviously thatās the case, because the automation goes off every five minutes, not āevery five minutes after I restart the integrationā. Iād love to be able to help troubleshoot this, but I donāt know where to start
Exciting release this, plenty of new features and significant improvements.
However, Iām in the same boat as many, in that the dashboards (both previous format and the new auto-created) are broken. The previous one just has no data pulling through, the new one just shows lots of āDashboard config errorā boxes, cannot find āerr-dashboard_helper_missingā.
All entities show as āUnavailableā, although do show available, with data, for a short time after reloading the kidschores integration. It seems to bounce between having a value, and being unavailable.
Lots of errors in the log.
I have also tried deleting and reinstalling the integration, reloading data from backup as per the recommended migration instructions.
The dashboards are just a layer on top of the integration, so itās hard to tell much from those. First thing to do would be to go into the integration and see if the devices and entities are showing correctly. Then in developer tools to look for entities that are unavailable or have errors. There are a lot of good steps in the wiki to help get started. Troubleshooting: KidsChores Troubleshooting Guide Ā· ad-ha/kidschores-ha Wiki Ā· GitHub
My best guess is that the something in the config is not fully unloading which was one of the biggest issues with how the old versions stored data. Be sure to restart once you remove the integration, then after a restart, and before adding the integration back look for those entities to see if they are still stuck. If so, do a diagnostic download from the integration after adding it back and restarting again and post the diagnostic file to the GitHub Ā· Where software is built.
I would love to hear a couple of confirmations here
if some are having success too. (Or not to warn others until we get issues worked out) With all the enhancements I would have preferred to go a little slower with releasing this beta for testing, but the HA 2026.2 forced it to be a little quicker.
Thanks for the pointers - I can confirm that deleting the integration again, but restarting prior to re-adding it, is now resulting in all devices and entities showing correctly, and available.
With some quick testing on the previous āmanualā dashboard, I was able to pull through data, but this requires updating of all the naming conventions for the entities.
Hoping the new dashboard would work, but that is still showing the errors as before.
edit - 5 minutes after posting this, they are all back to unavailable again
Had another play this morning and this is potentially promising. Iāve also updated to 2026.2.1 so canāt rule that out of making a difference.
Hereās what I did:
Remove integration
Remove old automations (part of old dashboard setup, I think?)
Restart HA
Reinstall integration, and choose pre-migration backup as data restore point
First thing I noticed was the Dashboard UI Helper was working. I then generated a new dashboard and it looks good, except for getting double actions when I manually add or remove points from the Admin side. Was this behaviour a bug I remember from ages ago?
Anyway, will see how it goes from here and report back later today. @mmcleod82 FYI
The occasional double points from the manual buttons is not an integration or dashboard issue, it is a mushroom card issue (used by the buttons). Other changes in HA 2026.02 caused frontend changes. It looks like it was fixed after I reported it, but wonāt be available until the next mushroom card release.
Sure, the buttons you see on the kids dashboard are unique to them, so you can just click claim and then approve the claim when it shows. Alternatively, if you go to developer tools and find the approve button for that kids chore, you can just press that which will automatically handle claiming and approving in one step.
Hello! Iām new to HA and KidsChores looks amazing so Iām eager to try it out. For a new installation, do you recommend going with the 0.3.1 stable release, or the 0.5 beta 3? If Iāll be upgrading eventually to 0.5 Iām inclined to just start out on the beta and avoid needing to migrate over in the future. But if the beta is still a bit unstable, Iām fine waiting for the full release. Do you consider the beta to be stable enough for general use at this point?
Hi, I am trying to set up this integration and I cannot get my head around the frequency and due dates.
I have 3 kids and 3 sets of chores, and we have a roster where each kid does one of the 3 chores on a different day of the week.
I only want to show todayās chores on the dashboard. No matter what I do I canāt get this right!
Lock claim until due window opens chore_claim_lock_until_window prevents kids from claiming before the due window starts.
When this lock is active, a Kid can see Waiting (Due Window Not Open).
First, a massive thank you to everyone who has used, tested, and provided feedback for KidsChores. Supporting this integration showed us just how much the community needed a robust household task manager.
Because so many of you were creating ākidsā accounts to manage your own adult lives and coordinate with housemates, we realized this project needed to scale. With @VaReTaSās blessing, Iāve taken the learnings from KidsChores and re-architected the system from the ground up.
I am thrilled to announce the official evolution of this project: ChoreOps v1.0.0.
ChoreOps is built to Home Assistant Platinum standards and supports everyone in the household. It includes Smart Rotations, Precise Due Windows, an OpsCenter Admin view, and a massive new āOver-The-Airā dashboard registry with out-of-the-box translations for 13+ languages.
What happens to KidsChores?
Active development and support have officially moved to ChoreOps. But donāt worryāmigrating is seamless! ChoreOps runs in parallel with KidsChores and includes a built-in migration tool so you donāt lose any of your familyās progress or points.
