šŸ” KidsChores – Family Chore Management Integration

I wound up adding a bonus button called Transfer Points for 2338 and after using it, deleted it. It seems to have worked.

I had tried setting states and even modifying the .storage for KC, but nothing stuck. Not sure how, but it knows what’s been added by KC and what’s been set manually…

hello thanks for the great integration. i just recently started making some chores but i have a question.

i want to make some chores that are general chores. so they can be done by anyone. but if ! person did it, no other can claim it.

can anybody help me with this?

edit i think i found it in the notes that it currently is possible but that wheb you make it a shared task they at least get informed that somebody already did it.

i do have another question, i want to have a task where the due date comes from a calander. (its a take out trash task that i want to trigger the day before they pick up the thrash) can somebody help me how to set that up?

This looks great and I’m just getting started but I have a question.

I want to have a chore…say ā€œclean the loftā€, that I want to alternate each week. So one child gets it 1 week and the other kid gets it the next week. How should I do this? It seems like it is a shared chore but, the shared chore doesn’t seem to have the logic to assign to a specific child only and another next.

Or should I just setup 2 different chores for the 2 kids for the same chore and do biweekly frequency?

Also, is there a way that a chore can be shown as not available? Like in the example above, I only want 1 child to be able to do the chore at a time and the other child it will be disabled for a week.

Thanks!

can somebody explain to me how i remove the due date?
i don’t want the chore to become over due. but i don’t seem to find how to do it.

Yeah being able to mark certain chores as pending based on automations would be awesome! Especially for things like the dishwasher or when the postman drops the mail in the mailbox…

I have it configured, but can’t seem to figure out how to add it to a Dashboard to see anything. There’s nothing in the wiki or GitHub page that describes how to do that part.

I’ve tried searching for ā€œKidChoresā€ and adding an entity to the dashboard with no luck. One would think the ā€œKidsChores Calendar: jedisā€ or even the ā€œKidsChores: Chores for jedisā€ would be it, but nothing loads when those are selected.

What am I missing?

@jedis, Check this out, it’s an auto-populating dashboard for KidsChores.

First I have to say that KidsChores is a great integration. Have we figured out a way to show chores only on the days that are applicable? (ie: Trash bins out to the road on Tuesdays, Laundry to the basement on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays)

I would like to have a way to setup an automation where HA can work with Ubiquiti to restrict certain Mac addresses from the network during a certain time period until certain chores are completed…

For example, at 8am the kids iPads, iPhones, video games, TV’s, etc get restricted. I would also setup a notification on all Amazon Echo’s to announce that ā€œchore time has begun.ā€ Once the kids complete their chores and mark them off, an automation sends a command to Ubiquiti to unrestrict the mac addresses.

Hi – wanted to preface that my family has been having lots of fun with this integration. My son was literally waiting for the dog to poop just so that he could pick it up.

I’m trying to set up a challenge – and I’m not sure if it’s working as intended. I’m mimicking the Weekend Warrior challenge described in the documentation. However, when defining the challenge and leaving blank the field: ā€œSelect Chore Associated with Challenge (Optional)ā€ – I am given the error ā€œA chore must be selectedā€ when submitting.

I’m not given the error when Challenge Type is set to ā€œMinimum Chores per Dayā€

My intent is to have it so if 60 of any chores are completed on Saturday & Sunday, the challenge reward is granted.

Am I missing something?

Thanks again

Hey there,

awesome integration, exactly what i was looking for recently (will try to also integrate this into my MagicMirror family dashboard with click support and report back once done).

Is there a way, to adjust the notification action for completed tasks? While testing i noticed, that on click on the notification i get sent to the last active page in the app. However it is possible, to define links and dashboards, that should be used as action:

something like clickAction: "/lovelace/kidsChore/KidName" could be used instead, so when clicking on a completed notification i get sent to the dashboard to approve directly.

Or is there any other way I can achieve that?

Thanks in advance.

Found this integration a couple of days ago and having a good time getting it set up and testing it before implementing it into our daily lives. I am looking for some advice on setting up a chore. I would like to have a chore that says ā€œExercise at least 3 times a week for 20 minutes per time.ā€ Should i just set it up to be a weekly reassurance with multiple claims allowed, or is there a better way?

Is this still in development? I haven’t seen the owner reply since April and I’d like to give it a shot, but not if it’s abandoned.

I installed and configured the integration. But with every reboot of my server the point get reset to zero. Did I do something wrong? How do I fix this?

Crossposting here and the related dashboard thread. Is it possible to ā€œundoā€ an approved chore? If so, what are the steps? Thanks!

Is this abandoned?

I was wondering if it’s possible to have rotating chores between our family? Every day we turn a spinner one click to rotate our after dinner clean up, rinse, load, empty dishwasher, clear table, etc. Is it possible to do that with the way this app works? Or is there a way to get that to work? Even if it’s a script that the parents/admin can click to rotate the chores for the day?

Sadly I am guessing that it is not. I have spent nearly a week trying to learn all about it and implement it with my family. I am now starting to see a number of holes appearing.
I too have noticed that there isn’t much action since April. This seemed like a God-Send but trying to understand its quirks is a challenge.
Currently battling chores that are recurring staying approved even after the due date moves to the next week. Every time I reboot, the chore status updates to approved again.

Any way to completely disable and remove due dates? We don’t use due dates and just have chores that can be made daily, but it seems like even after resetting all the due dates, the times cannot be removed.

I think I was mistaken. There is another branch that has activity for a 4.0 version.

Hi all,

Sorry I am not quite active lately, but I am busy with my work and cannot dedicate a lot of time into this as before.

There’s a new beta version available to test. It should be OK to go into production, but preferred to release it gradually.

You can all download it from HACS directly.

Give me feedback, but I believe this solves a lot of the issues from the previous version, along with many new features.

Cheers

Hey,

I can’t seem to find the beta version in HACS or on the github repo. Could you help point the way? This project is amazing by the way. I’m not a deeply experienced developer, but are there specific things you could use support on? I’m happy to try and help keep this alive. Feel free to DM if you’d like.
