With 1000 group addresses, that would be a big help.

There are a couple of scripts / apps written in various languages that aim to do so. Those have different requirements like special naming schemas, GA schemas or ETS function usage. I haven’t tested any of them myself, so can’t say anything about reliability. You’ll find those on GitHub.
That said, using YAML is probably a lot of copy & paste but not that big deal for a typical installation. I guess doing it in UI would take a bit longer, but should still be manageable and is nicer if you have to change some GAs later for an entity (yaml may create a new entity there).
You also don’t need to do everything at once. And I doubt you would really need every GA as an entity in HA
