KNX Project Import: dpt Missing

Hello!

I have finally started working with HA and am already failing to set up the entities.

Our house is equipped with KNX. I have loaded the ETS4 project - yes, the house and therefore the project are that old, and I didn’t get anything else from the electrician at the time and I don’t have ETS either.

But for many devices no DPT is displayed, especially for temperature sensors (dpt9.001; °C) or here brightness (dpt9.004, lux) and wind speed (dpt9.005; m/s).

How can I correct this manually?

Many thanks in advance for your help!

Best regards,
NehCoy

Hi !

There is no manual DPT selection for this. It has to be properly defined in the project.

But this has nothing to do with entity setup. The DPT data from a project is not used for that (apart from UI drag&drop suggestions).

Thanks for the answer.
Hello farmio,
thanks for your reply!

Hm … That’s stupid. Since, as already written, I don’t have ETS, I can’t change the project. So I have to create all the devices manually. :worried:

You will have todo that anyway, as at the moment only binary sensors, lights and switches are supported from the Gui interface. Remember that this is the hard work of a few and progress is slow but steady.

Meanwhile KNX - Home Assistant will tell you everything you need to know about creating entities for you to use.

If you need help there are loads around to help code / nudge you in the right direction.

For the ETS part, thats just due to how your old installer setup the groups without defining what it actually is DTP wise. Without ETS you cannot change that as you mentioned. You can “fix” it by looking at its description or have someone “fix” the ETS project file.
