KVM Switch

Any recommendations for a KVM switch that I could change via HA? Doubting there is a single device solution as it seems like an ir switch is as smart as they get. I do have a Harmony Hub I haven’t used in years but hesitant to use it.

If the one can teach Harmony Hub new IR commands, and KVM is in direct proximity to Harmony, maybe you can consider IR controlled KVM switch, and try to utilize HA harmony integration?

Also, I can imagine KVM switching via USB, since most KVMs supports hot-keys for switching. Probably in this case custom integration(s) need to be developed or extended (/integrations/keyboard/? which utilizes pyuserinput).

Thanks. Hadn’t thought about software based switching. I like that idea.

This one has usb control

This article is about adding it to a pi-kvm setup.
Pi-kvm has built-in software for controlling this kvm over usb.

perhaps there is a way to pull input state/ change input via sending curl commands to pi-kvm

Interesting. Thanks for posting that.

however, i have decided on a much cheaper solution.
a switchbot on a normal KVM switch.

really there is only 1 KVM button i need to hit, if I am not near the KVM.
so a single switchbot is a much easier solution, with Home Assistant / Google Assistant support.

I have an IR controlled KVM and use one of these with ESPHOME installed to control it,

Hi,

PK

Sure, one of these:

Could you elaborate a bit more about that single switchbot that you use to change KVM input?

I have a KVM switch.
It has 4 buttons.
The switchbot pushes button 3

But what switchbot?

The switchbot? it was their first product. it was called switchbot.
I have mine pushing a button on my KVM.

lets try something.
google.com .ca .uk (whatever works for you)
search for " switchbot button push"

oh, yes… there it is… first result.

If you just google switchbot you end up on their homepage where they have tons of things but none that actually seems to push buttons. I had to search specifically for it. Thanks.

now that im home i can show you this

and here is a link to the switchbot
