So I bought one of these Lanbon L9-HF ceiling fan / light combo single gang box switch from Amazon the other day full knowing the risk of the little integration support they have with HA if any at all.
With that said, I still wanted to give it a shot, and since Amazon you can return almost anything easily I had nothing to lose but time.
I did read online that with some Lanbon switches they can be paired with the Tuya app. So once I received and installed it, I did try to pair it with the Tuya iOS app but just failures unfortunately, it wouldn’t just show up as discoverable and or when I scanned the QR code the switch would display on its lcd screen the Tuya app wouldn’t recognize it .
So I had to use Lanbon’s native app, which did easily find it in its discovery section and allowed me to scan its QR code. I successfully paired it with their app. I tried to update its firmware as well but it said I was on latest already.
It never showed up at all in HA as a newly discovered device . I tried restarting the switch after it was paired, restating HA, nothing
.
interesting part. I started digging through the menus on the switch via the lcd touch screen. I did find this option under menu, settings, engineering, ‘homeassistant turn on’ . So of course I enabled it, LOL . But alas nothing happened on HA side. Even restarted HA again & the switch just to be extra safe.
Maybe it’s for a future firmware where HA integration maybe possible. Not sure.
So sadly the old switch is back in the wall and I’ll be returning it to Amazon.
