LD2410 5 pin connector (where to buy?)

Hi All,

I'm on my 3rd set of connectors now that don't connect.

From all accounts, the connector is a JST GH with a 1.25 pitch. I bought a set of connetors but they don't keep connected, they appear to have a clasp on the top that looks like it should pair with a suitable socket.

Does anybody have any links to the right connector that can be used on the header pins for this device?

Why not just solder the wires?

By this I assume that you mean that the connector detaches from the header on the board.

My experience is that many female connectors can only plug in once for a reliable connection. My guess is that you're debugging something and have to plug and unplug many times.

My solution would be to find a male/female connector pair with the appropriate number of pins that is more reliable. Remove the header and solder wires between the the board and the male connector and replace your female connector you've been using with the new female.

It could be that you don't have enough slack in your cable and when you assemble it. The force on the cable, once assembled, is pulling it out. Try making your cable a little longer.

Once you have it debugged, hot glue the connector to the header.

This is the connector that I received for the JST GH 1.25mm, it was unlike the ZH connector I have for the LD2450, this connector is open framed around the pins......not obvious from the photo at the time of purchase.

I could solder the wire but would really like the option to have a connector, afterall it does have the header pins for it.

I'm not actually debugging anything, more connecting it up and like the idea of having it modular should I choose to use the component for other things.

I saw this post and it appeared to have a connector that "appeared" to stay connected.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I believe that is the second set of connectors I bought from Pi Hut, they don't explicitly call it an MX connector, but I took the "Molex" part of the description as the M in the MX

They partially fit in terms of pitch, but didn't allow the full travel down the pin header, they awkwardly went on about 30% depth at an angle and were easy to fall off with even a moderate nudge.

Usually the MX connector male side has a plastic frame around and about 1 mm of plastic beneath the frame that would take up the slack. However it's been omitted from the manufacturing process.
it is possible to slide a plastic frame around it, a bit difficult but doable.

And pull the pins from the male pcb part. Then slide it over the pins on the LD2410 pins.

The male connectors from the above kit :

The pins can be pulled out from the plastic frame. You well need needle nose pliers, and the pins can be pulled out from ether side.

Then push the plastic frame down the pins that are soldered on the pcb towards the pcb, like this:

I will try and remove the plastic shroud from the cable and place it over the pin headers to create a mating connector.

I've also noticed on my travels that the LD2410 comes in different flavours, some with side mounted connectors, others with empty pin headers.........seems I chose poorly with the traditional pin headers and the lack of compatability with off the shelf cable connectors.
