LED Strip Recommendations For a Newby

I’ve decided to start a smart home using Home Assistant. At this point I haven’t decided whether to run Home Assistant on a dedicated device or in a Proxmox Linux Container (LXC).

As I begin to build out my smart home, I’d really like to avoid proprietary bridges and other network peripherals to the greatest extent possible. That said, I’m not averse to adding z-wave or zigbee capabilities if they will increase options in the long term.

With all that in mind, I’d appreciate recommendations for good quality LED strip kits to run along the back of some cabinets. Being new, it would be great to get off to a good start by making a “smart” purchase.

Thanks very much.

Get regular dumb rgbw led strips, the non-adressable ones. Make sure to only buy the strips & maybe a 12 or 24v transformer. BTF make some pretty decent ones.

You can add a zigbee controller separately. Not sure if ZWave make rgbw controllers though. Hopefully someone can confirm

I use the ikea zigbee ormanas led strips and they work reliably for me, but ikea is phasing out zigbee for matter, so if interested you may want to stock up a few if you can.

Zooz now have one:
