Legrand API Issues

Hi all,

I am having problems with my Legrand units. I have set up some groups of lights but each time the automation runs, or I try to run them manually, I get the following message.

“Failed to perform the action light/turn_on. Cannot connect to host api.netatmo.com:443 ssl:default [Network unreachable]”.

I presume that the API connection is the one that Home Assistant uses to negotiate with the Legrand control system. I have also read that only a certain number of commands can be issued per period of time (though I cannot understand why).

Can someone explain why this is happening and how I can resolve it please? It is seriously denigrating my enjoyment of using Home Assistant!

Geoff

Try running api command from you pc

HTTP and 443 seems weird. Should be https and 443

Hi, how do I do that? I have read some info on api commands and it looks beyond my capabilities. I only use the UI of HA and have not had time to look into yaml.

Well I contacted Legrand who were completely disinterested in helping me despite providing the api for third parties. I suspect I will have to progressively move to Shelley or similar products that do not require a distant server to manage them. If only I had known before I started building the house. An expensive lesson to learn.

I heartily recommend NOT investing in (intelligent) Legrand products to anyone trying to build a connected home.

In the meantime I am stuck with automations and controls that are not working. Does anyone have a solution to help me overcome the problem?

Geoff

Just tested the group again and now it is working. Is this api issue:

A home assistant problem
A Legrand server issue or,
An internal network issue here?

There is a request limit (500 request but this was random Reddit info so may not be true) so if you have many command to legrand it may stop working.

Not likely HA unless others have similar complaint. I did not see any.

My guess was temporary problem caused by dns or api rate limit.

Ultimately products that require connection to remote server are problem. Not only difficult to troubleshoot but limits on use that may cause issues.

What type of device is this?

Hi,

Sorry for delayed response but have been on holiday then suffering from a virus my son gave me!

It was the lights automation that was giving problems but now I appear to have lost all the shutters. I will close this post and open a new topic.

I have also noted the discussions on the use of HomeKit so when I have time I will experiment with that as a local solution to overcome this problem but again, that will be in a separate, targeted post.
