Exactly my point…thanks. They will not enable the upgrade for their existing customers because they hope to churn new sales instead which is obviously bad business.
@rouxdoo they are enabling Matter for existing Lock+ customers. Looking at their website, no other lock sold by them supports Matter currently. They’ve taken two years to even get the Lock+ updated. Either they’re picking the lowest-hanging fruit with the Lock+, or the other locks aren’t feasible for some reason.
Ahh, for some reason I thought that only applied to the + as it was the newer of the group.
Is the battery level reported?
In HA it just shows Normal, no percentage. No battery info in HomeKit at all.
This is just sour grapes (because of Level’s business practices), but I was extra frustrated to see that even if I wanted to pay for the Level Lock+ with Matter, it’s not sold with the finish (polished brass) that matches my home. Sigh!
Got the first of my two Lock+ devices upgraded to Matter (firmware version 3.2.1
). My Thread Border Router is an Apple TV. I’m running the python-matter-server container (I don’t use HAOS). I added the lock to HomeKit first, then “shared” it from the Home app and added it to Home Assistant. It’s acting like a first-class citizen in both places, and actually feels more responsive within HomeKit than it did with BLE. I have to figure out a Thread Border Router solution for second lock, which isn’t within range of the existing part of my Thread network, and then I should be able to add the other lock. This is very exciting!
I haven’t upgraded because I don’t want to break something that’s working. People are generally happy with the update?
No complaints here. It feels like a whole new (better) lock after moving across to Matter/Thread. It responds immediately and I can control it from either HomeKit or Home Assistant, and I still get the HomeKey functionality. Everyone with the lock should go ahead and upgrade.
Touch-to-lock doesn’t work on my Matter-upgraded lock. Previously (and with my other non-upgraded Lock+), if the door was closed but unlocked, and I opened and then closed the door, I could touch the bezel on the outside to engage the deadbolt. Has that behavior changed for anyone else?
I had touch to lock/unlock enabled before the upgrade and it’s still working on mine after the upgrade (just tested it now)
Looks like matter over thread firmware is now available for Bolt as well.

I requested the update and a got message to be patient as demand is high.
If I recall, it’s currently a reported bug (check the subreddit).
Do you have a link to a post there? Searching for “lock” and “touch” doesn’t help when those are product names.
I contacted Level support:
We’re looking into some claims of a change of performance in the Touch-to-lock feature
Sweet! just submitted request for my 3 Bolt locks!
Whoo, hoo! I just requested update for my Bolt. Sadly they are not offering updates for my Touch (at least not yet).
