I am on the fence between these two dimmers. So far the pros/cons I can see are:
GE/Jasco Enbrighten (46203):
Smaller casing - big plus since it is easier to fit in multi-gang switch boxes
Lacks dimming level indicator lights (which can be OK as it looks more like a normal dimmer)
A bit stiff to the touch - have to press somewhat more firmly than normal to get to work
Less intuitive that it is a dimmer since there isn’t an independent dimmer rocker
Less advanced settings/software options to set (fast vs slow dimming rather than number of seconds to brighten/dim, max / min dim level, etc.)
Slight flicker when dimming LEDs - the “fast” dim setting is still quite slow (2-3 seconds) so you see the grades of dimming vs a smoother transition if it was able to dim quicker
No fast on/off ability
Returns to last dim level when turned on – probably mostly OK but can be annoying if you dim to a lower level only occasionally
I use the Light Almond which is a bit darker than the Leviton color of my normal rocker switches/faceplates which I got at Home Depot
Leviton (DZ6HD-1BZ):
Larger casing/tight fit in switch box
Don’t care for the green color of the LED’s but at least they can be turned off
More options in software (dim rate in seconds, setting for incandencent/led/cfl)
Better dimmer - seems to work more smoothly than the GE/Jasco at least with the LED lights I use (which are GE by the way)
Softer rocker - easier to activate the light
Leviton brand name is engraved in the rocker - doesn’t blend as well with other non-Leviton switches and my experience is the engraved name gets dirt caught in it over time
I was originally thinking I like the GE ones better since I didn’t like the green LED’s and the compact size. However, I am now favoring the Leviton dimmers. Overall, seems to be a better featured switch. Wish they would have used a blue or white LED rather than green but I guess I can live with it. Also would be great if they had a smaller casing. Depending on how much existing wiring there is in the switch box, it can be a tight squeeze to get these in.
I would be interested in the experience others have had with these dimmers.
