Yep nothing new there although LG has really done a big step forward in the shittyfication of their products ! It still doesn’t prevent people to buy all these “smart” tvs that basically are obsolete as soon as you get them out of their box and most of them spies on you and/or an easy target for bots 
A more cynical person would suspect that’s why they promised OS updates for 5 years on all TVs going all the way back to 2022.

Fun fact: LG pays for their 1° tier csa-iot (owners of matter) membership a minimum of $100k/ano (like Google, Amazon, Apple, Samsung) to “enjoy all benefits plus a seat on the Alliance Board of Directors”
