LG webos Smart TV - recognize button pressing

Hi.
I want to use the LGs remote (LGs Magic Remote 2021) so a button press is not fired from home assistant. Since I do not really understand the official documentation I would like to know if there is a way to recognize if I am pressing a specific button on the original remote to use this as a trigger in automatitions. Or another way to achieve this.

Thanks in advance - once again

It looks like the LG Magic remote use 2.4Ghz, so would need a receiver that can handle that frequency spectrum.
Even if you catch the signal, then the signal will also go to the TV, which would still react to the button press.

I have a Logitech Harmony I don’t use since I got the LG TV. I haven’t looked at the integration yet, but it should be possible to capture signals from it while sending them from the remote. I would then look at which button has no function, e.g. as long as the app behind it is not activated or a digit that alone leads to nothing.

If you press an app button with no app installed, then the TV opens up the app store.
If you press a digit with no channel assigned, then it turns on and show a no signal screen.

Nope. When I press eg “0” there is at most a message telling the channel was not found - as far as I can tell. I don’t use regular TV anyway.

You got an option if you are in an app, since the digits then seem to be with no function.
