What is LIBI?
LIBI is a graphical editor that takes your existing Home Assistant automations and automatically translates them into a standard LADDER logic representation. You can edit your logic visually, and it saves everything directly back to standard Home Assistant YAML files. HA runs the automations natively, just like always.
Important Note: This is NOT a Node-RED replacement! It is simply an alternative approach to writing and viewing automations.
Who is it for & Why?
It is specifically designed for electricians, PLC programmers (it’s based on the IEC 61131-3 standard for LD), or anyone who prefers a straightforward, graphical way to write logic.
Visualizing automations as a Ladder Diagram makes complex conditions, triggers, and execution flows incredibly easy to follow and debug at a glance.
Key Advantages:
-
Zero execution overhead: It writes standard HA YAML, so there’s no middleman running your automations.
-
Native UI feel: It uses Home Assistant’s native entity/device pickers for a seamless experience.
-
Integrated Helper Management: Create and insert helpers directly from the canvas.
-
Project Grouping: Manage multiple automations (NETs) in a single visual workspace (e.g., see all your “Garden Automations” at once).

BETA WARNING: NOT FOR PRODUCTION YET
LIBI is currently in BETA. It is not recommended to install this on a production system right now.
I am sharing this for the curious minds, tinkerers, and anyone who wants to experiment and help me test, debug, and improve the project. If you find this interesting, your feedback would be highly appreciated!
