I’ve written a Home Assistant integration for the WiSA hubs sold by Platin, Buchardt Audio, System Audio and a few other brands. It controls them locally, with no cloud and no vendor app:
I own a Platin Stereo Hub, and the only ways to control it were the vendor’s app and the remote. So I spent a few months reverse engineering its two network protocols, measuring every behaviour on the real device, and this is the result.
The hub is not a Platin design: it runs the Libre Wireless LibreSync platform on hardware built by the same manufacturer (Hansong) for many brands. So the same box also ships as the System Audio, Buchardt, Econik and Triangle Stereo Hubs, Mesanovic bundles it with its monitors, and there are HT and Surround versions too.
What you get
- A media player: sources, volume, play/pause/next, track title, artist and artwork.
- Switches for power, room correction and manual EQ.
- A select for the three EQ presets you built in the app.
- A binary sensor telling whether sound is actually coming out of the speakers.
- Diagnostics, for bug reports.
It’s push-driven: the hub announces volume, source and metadata as they change, so the dashboard follows the remote within a second or so. The hub is discovered by itself, over SSDP.
Installing
Through HACS, as a custom repository: the button in the README adds it for you.
Three things that look like bugs and are not
The media player has no on/off button, because the hub’s “power” is a stop, not mains power. Mute is simulated through the volume, because the hub has no real mute. And a hub whose UPnP service stops answering can’t be added until it’s power cycled. The README explains all three in detail.
Help wanted
It’s tested only on my Platin Stereo Hub, firmware 1.52. Every other brand should work, since it runs the same software, but nobody has checked yet.
Anyway, if you own any of these hubs, please try it and open a device report, even if everything works: https://github.com/drsound/ha-libresync/issues/new?template=device_report.yml
The form asks for the model and the diagnostics file, which is all I need to fix a hub I don’t own.
Note: a pull request to add the integration to Home Assistant core is open. The core version starts with the media player alone, as core rules require, and the other platforms will follow one at a time. In the meantime this custom integration keeps all of them.
