I’ve recently moved house and the people who were here before were obviously not very keen on saving energy - we’ve got over a kilowatt of halogen lights! I’m looking for recommendations to replace them with dimmable (and preferably tunable colour temperature) zigbee LED lights:
- “Candle” style bulbs with a E14 base. These are currently 45W halogen bulbs, and I think that equates to about 800lm each. I’ve used Ikea Tradfri bulbs elsewhere, but the candle style Tradfri bulbs are only 470lm. In fact, I’m sruggling to find any 800+lm candle style zigbee bulbs. Ikea do 806lm globe style bulbs with an E14 base, so that is an option, but candle shape would definitely be nicer.
- G4 halogen capsules - I don’t think I could get a zigbee bulb that small, but could I put in LED bulbs and put in a zigbee dimmer switch to control them? G4 bulbs are 12v, so the light fitting will have a suitable power supply to step 240v down to 12v. How dimmable are LED G4 bulbs? Can I drive the entire light fitting (power supply and all) through a dimmer? Any recommendations for suitable zigbee dimmer switches?
- G9 halogen bulbs - again, these are pretty small, but they are 240v. How dimmable are G9 LED bulbs? Again, any recommendations for a suitable zigbee dimmer?
I don’t particularly want to replace all the light fittings - they all look nice, I just want to be able to control them through HA, and replace the inefficient halogens with LED bulbs.
