G'day,
I have a Zigbee network with around 40 devices including smart zigbee lightbulbs. These bulbs are controlled via their classic on/off switch but as powered devices do, they act as repeaters until they go offline again. Is there a way to prevent these lightbulbs (or other temporarily powered devices) from acting as repeaters and stabilising the network? I suppose if a repeater goes offline the battery-powered device automatically finds another connection to the network, correct?
Yes... eventually... maybe. In the interim it will wreak havoc.
There are dozens of threads on this topic. The best solution options are:
- Stop using the switches.
- Replace the switches with smart ones that don't de-power the bulbs.
- Replace the bulbs with non-routing ones.
I know older Aqara zigbee 1.x version devices will not re-route. The newer zigbee 3.0 versions do.
Can you add the battery devices to their nearest router that does not get switched off?
If done that way, does the battery device stay connected to the device it was added via?
