Hello readers.
I ran into some problems working with webpage dashboards. I have an RPI with Moode for listening to the radio and my music collection. Within my home network, I can control the RPI with Moode from the webpage dashboard I created for it. When I’m outside my home network, I can’t connect the RPI with Moode on that dashboard. However, when I enter the IP address of the RPI in the Firefox add-on, I get access to Moode and can control everything.
I have two Aruba switches in my network. I can’t view these in a webpage dashboard, either inside or outside my network, but I can in the Firefox add-on. This could be due to security restrictions. There are quite a few topics on webpage dashboard. (info: I don’t have https: yet.)
Can someone explain why this is the case?
The Firefox add-on apparently offers more options than the webpage dashboard. Would it be possible to replace the current webpage dashboard with the Firefox add-on without the top bar?
That would eliminate some limitations. I’m not nearly familiar enough with Home Assistant (which I love) to determine whether this is feasible.
As an alternative to multiple webpage dashboards, the bookmarks toolbar could be used. I know I like to have many tabs open, which can use a lot of memory.
Two usual issues:
-
the webpage does not allow embedding. Probably not the case here as you can see it locally.
-
http / https mismatch. Both the Home Assistant dashboard and the webpage you are trying to view must have the same setting, either http, or https. This is likely the reason if your webpage is accessed using http and your Home Assistant is accessed using http locally but https when remote.
Thanks for your reply.
As far as I know, it’s also accessible from outside the site via http:. If someone wants to access my data, they can also do so via Wi-Fi using https:, which requires a fair amount of CPU power.
I installed the Tailscale add-on, but I think it’s disabled on my mobile phone because I couldn’t make payments with my banking app. I did adjust the Tailscale settings. But if the key icon in the top right corner isn’t visible, the app is still disabled.
When I enter the Aruba’s IP address locally in a webpage dashboard, I get a cascade effect: two identical images.
In Firefox Add-on, the webpage is fully accessible.
Do you have an explanation for this?
