My legacy load controller has broken and, as with any closed ecosystem, replacing it is too expensive.
I need it to manage the dishwasher, washing machine, and dryer. Since I already have Home Assistant (HA), I’m considering using something like the Shelly Pro 4PM to replace it at a fraction of the cost.
The issue is that I need separate lines for each appliance, but the 4PM shares a single line across all four switches.
So I looked into the 1PM (non-Pro version) and I’m thinking of using three of them, one for each load.
Do you know of any other solutions compatible with HA that could work as a load controller?
What do you mean by this? The Shelly 4 Pro will monitor and control each appliance individually. It will not turn them all on/off at the same time unless you want it to do that.
The only requirement seems to be that they are on the same phase - you cannot use it if you have three phases (3 live wires coming into your house from your electricity distributor).
Other than that, just make sure that your appliances don’t draw over 16A (or 40A in total if they’re running at the same time). You will also need the RC snubbers shown in the wiring diagrams, since all the appliances you mentioned are inductive loads.
Currently I have separate L lines each one with a breaker before the load control. I would like to keep it that way.
Using the 4PM I should put a single 40A breaker before it.
