I have the Home Assistant Companion App running on all of the phones in my household. I have many automations that utilize the data from the phones. Occaisonally, I need to check a setting on one of the phones. When I launch the app, it will ask me to sign in. Doing this, then triggers the screen where I have to give the device a name. I am logging into an existing account on the HA server, so why does it ask me to give the device a new name every time I do this?
It screws up my automations every time and I have to go in and re-configure them for the new entity name. In addition, other functions just stop working. For example, last night I logged into HA on my wife’s phone because I wanted to check the sensor update interval. I logged into her account, and it asked me for the device name. If I enter the name I had previously set up, I am given an error saying the entity already exists. So I had to create a new one. I have now been working this morning to reconfigure all of my automations and dashboards that have the info from her device. Also, and I don’t if this is related or just a coincidence, but now I am getting an error on my Settings screen that says “Error while loading page config”. So I can’t even access my automations now.
Is there a way to tell HA to use a pre-existing entity when I sign into an account?
