Login Loop after typo in configuration.yaml. How can I get back in?

So, I locked myself out of my HA admin (both web browser and app) and it's stuck in a login loop. Is there another way to login remotely?

I was trying to reduce SD card writes by editing the configuration.yaml, adding "logbook" and "recorder" entries, and I must have made a bad typo. Now when I try to login, it gives me the "Loading data" screen and spinner, but then loops back to the login screen after 60 seconds.

HA seems to be running fine (I'm getting email and SMS notifications of events) but I can't login. What other ways can I get in to edit the configuration.yaml file remotely? THANKS

Take the sd card out and edit the file on your PC. You may need an addon to read the linux file system a quick google will point you in the right direction for your OS.

If you have the samba addon it will be easy using that.

You could restore the last backup.

Did the checks not flag an issue when you attempted to restart HA, the correct way to restart runs a check before restarting?

I'm an hour away trying to remote in. I do believe I have the Samba addon installed. Does that just work on a LAN, or can I remote into that as well?

I don't recall any errors or warnings when I saved the configuration.yaml edits and restarted.

Thank you!

That depends on how you remote in - if you get access to the LAN remotely you should also be able to access the Samba share if that app is running.

Thanks for all your help and suggestions here. For some unknown reason, it let me log in today. [bangs head on wall]
