Got an apartment on 4th floor and need to actuate a Garage and a Gate using Qubino Wave Shelly devices. Distance is about 80 Meters indoor and vertically.
Is there a Z-wave stick capable of such range ?
Or should I switch to a different technology ?
You can use any 700 or 800 series controller for Z-Wave Long Range. Where you place your controller will have more of an impact on range than the model of the Z-Wave stick you buy. This is because most Z-Wave sticks are using the exact same hardware. As far as range goes I’ve been able to get 1300ft( 396M) in Long Range mode. In perfect conditions you will have no problem getting 80M range with Z-Wave Long Range. Your actual range will decrease based on obstacles and other stuff in your environment. The only way to see if it will work is to buy the equipment and test it out.
Note that both the controller stick and the device must be LR capable, and connected using the LR protocol, in order to get that kind of distance. Since the stick is backwards compatible, it can also connect to regular (mesh) devices as well as LR devices, but only LR devices will have that extended range.
