I have a light outside which the current dumb switch is inside a breaker box. The box is attached to a house wall on the outside. I need to swap the dumb switch for a timer switch which I can program to turn on and off and certain time. I can not find a IP67 rated.
Why not use a dumb IP67 switch and just stick a wifi module behind it? Something like the Shelly 1 mini will do if it’s just for a single light.
You can even put the module in a waterproof enclosure in the breaker box If you have access to the necessary wiring there.
I have a large IP67 dumb switch which I might be able to insert this Shelly inside, I need to try. Does the Shelly 1 has a timer capabilities, like to be able to set it to turn on everyday at 5pm and off at 10pm without me fiddling it everyday?
Yep, you can either do it directly via the Shelly app with no HA involvement or else via HA automations.
Thank you, before ordering the 1 mini gen 4, I just took a look at the Shelly 1PM gen 4 which seems to have “Internal temperature sensor for overheating protection” is this better for being outside or I am fine with the 1 mini?
The 1 mini also has overheating protection ![]()
Besides, the 1PM has stuff which doesn’t really suit your usecase:
- It’s larger than the mini.
- It has power monitoring.
- It’s more expensive.
PS. Unless you specifically need zigbee support too, get the Gen3 instead of the Gen4. It’s cheaper and does exactly the same thing without the unnecessary zigbee option.
Or locally on your web browser, no shelly app needed.
Thanks for the reminder. It’s been a few years since I’ve used Shellies - had totally forgotten about the web interface!
