I’m looking for a easy to fit single channel energy monitor for whole-house monitoring with a clamp-on CT
Needs to be local connection so no cloud stuff, i’ve been searching but its a bit of a minefield it seems with some needing hubs or apps etc to integrate
An energy monitor device must measure voltage of the source, so it should never need a battery.
I use one that zemismart sells. There have posts here about it, search that out.
Is a Hildebrand Glow CAD linked to your smart meter (if you have one) also an option for you?
They are expensive at £70 but I’ve just gone through the process of setting one up and have discussed isolating it from the internet with their support. Tldr; you won’t get firmware updates and they won’t be able to support it while it is isolated, but it will still happily talk to HA. It’s also got a nice time based display which looks useful, and I’ve not explored the features yet. Anyway, feel free to ask if it’s of interest.
I’ve got the SonOff Pow/Ct fitted and it works a treat, seems very accurate and was easy to integrate into HA.
It’s a neat little unit but more imprtantly has a CT that goes to 16mm I think, much bigger than most others that only take 10mm cables, this made it easy to clamp over a regular 25mm UK meter tail.
