there are a few topics about TRVs, e.g. which are good, cheap etc., but i am just looking for a Zigbee TRV, which is working without any cloud services and communicates to HA directly.
Or is every Zigbee protocol using TRV able to communicate directly with HA without taking the way via a gateway, does not matter GHome, Apple Home, Alexa or something from the manufacturer.
Is there something like a list? Because Try and Error is expensive and frustrating.
Call me special, but i hate these cloud services as hell. I would look for Tasmota TRVs, but since you need to be very lucky to flash Tasmota, this would end also in Try’n’error.
Have you any recommandations for me? Price shouldn’t matter any more, because i am looking for offline usable TRVs since month and can’t come to a decicion.
Zigbee by its very nature does not communicate through the cloud so you won’t need to worry about that. You have entirely different things to worry about.
You will require a Zigbee coordinator stick and a Zigbee integration or addon for HA such as ZHA, Zigbee2MQTT, or Deconz
Make sure your chosen TRV is supported by your zigbee addon
Pick your zigbee coordinator stick based on what’s supported / reccommmend by your chosen addon or integration.
Ahhh yeah this way makes sense. Now i get it. And now I do progress as i found a few sites like: https://zigbee.blakadder.com/ with listed TRVs (And crazy some of them cost 100€/piece).
Is there a “first steps with HA and Zigbee” guide, for a few general questions like “has Zigbee2MQTT disadvantages compared to Zigbee Home Automation?”
Just to info, i never thought Zigbee is talking with a cloud directly, but maybe the zigbee device is only talking to the special gateway which is only working with HA via cloud.
My advice is to see if you can find a manual for the TRV you are looking at before buying.
If you can read it then it could be worth buying.
The ones I bought has a terrible manual and by some reason are programmed by default to turn on every day at one specific time.
And because of the crappy manual I don’t understand how to remove this schedule.
I have “blocked” it in Node red but it would be far better if I could remove it.
