I have some outdoor fixtures on my home (well protected from the elements) which look nice when paired with a flickering candle effect. I had a set of Yeelight bulbs which served this purpose well, but after a router change they have proven impossible to set back up -- the Yeelight app is broken beyond repair.
I'm looking for another smart bulb which can serve this purpose; I've tried both Hue and LIFX and both lose their "effects" when paired with Home Assistant. Has anyone had any luck here? Bonus points if the bulb works with Matter, but it's not a requirement.
The flicker effect is available in HA with my Hue. But I use them in HA via the Hue hub, could be the reason perhaps ... I have not tried to install them directly into HA.

Yes, I tried that -- the BT/Matter Hue Essentials bulbs I have did not provide effects in HA, and the hub's limited range proved an issue.
Hue bulb Effects are accessible in HA even when connected without the Hue Hub.
effect_list: blink, breathe, okay, channel_change, candle, sunset, sunrise, sparkle, opal, glisten, underwater, cosmos, sunbeam, enchant, none, finish_effect, stop_effect, stop_hue_effect

You can trigger the LIFX firmware-based Flame effect on any LIFX Matrix device, including Tile, Candle, Path, Spot, Tube, Ceiling, Luna and Mirror. Standard LIFX single zone bulbs do not have this effect built-in and require an app to generate it for them.
Woah, hang on, how have you got that?
Oh, Z2M
They aren't available in ZHA.
