These led strips are widely available to the US (amazon, ebay, aliexpress).
Maybe you should double check your requirement for 45 leds/m. As far as I’m aware, the standard sizes are 30/m, 60/m, and 144/m. I’ve played around with all 3 sizes but have never seen 45/m.
I’m sure I won’t be able to find these but they would work perfectly for my television (80”) with the Dreamscreens limitation that will give me the most possible amount of leds per side.
Yeah I’m sure there are non-standard strips with varying number of LEDs/m (you could even make your own exactly how you’d like), however, these are usually not readily available and will always cost more then the standard sizes.
It sounds like 45/m is not a requirement, but is most optimal due to the max amount of LEDs dreamscreen supports. If this is the case, then most likely you can’t use the 60/m due to the Dreamscreen device not being able to handle the amount of power the LED strips draw.
I’m not familiar with Dreamscreen, so this is just a suggestion:
When setting up the Dreamscreen device, I’m assuming you have to tell it how many LEDs you are using in your setup.
I’m also assuming (since it supports up to 130" TVs) that the Dreemscreen firmware can handle more LEDs then what your 80" uses.
If I were you, I’d likely just buy and use the 60/m. I’d then buy a separate power supply to power the LEDs instead of the having the Dreamscreen device power the LEDs.
I had an issue with Ambivision (similar to Dreamscreen) where my LEDs were flickering and not optimal brightness. As soon as I powered the leds from my own power supply (instead of the Ambivision), my issues went away. I’ve since upgraded to a larger power supply and 60/m leds.
The Dreamscreen limitations are not necessarily the power supply, as I’m sure there would be issues. But in the app to set it up you tell it how many leds are on each side, so to get the colors to mimic the screen from corner to corner it won’t allow me to add more then the 250 led count.
Believe it or not the ones they sell are less then 30 per meter. I’ll have to try to figure out how far a 60 per meter strip would go on each side , maybe it would look ok if I had to leave a border around to make it fit properly?
Thanks for the advise. This think has Ben nothing but a headache for me!
