Looking to add a momentary / pulse switch to a Kettle

Purely for increasing spousal approval, of course - newbie here
Looking for ideas to incorporate a pulse signal into a small area in base of kettle / coffee machine.
The kettle is cordless so sits on a base with a built in momentary switch to turn it on

More likely the momentary switch does not have much voltage in it.
If it is low voltage then a opto coupler could work with an ESP.
But that requires some research on the device first before.

Good point I’ll take base apart and check the voltage

Then control also if there is galvanic isolation from mains.

I don’t understand what you are getting at

That isolation transformers are not always used. You can measure for example 5V control board voltage, but gnd has connection to mains line as well.
Better to verify, so you know what kind of attention to give while doing diy wiring.

Ok. I see what you’re saying. After chatting with someone outside this forum i think it’s not a viable task. Not least due to lack of space in the base

Do you have kettle with momentary button in the base?
Normally there is switch in the base or on electronic models button in the handle.

In base. It’s a Bosch TWK 8611 P

Ahh, ok. No space for Esp32 super mini?

That base looks larger than it needs to be.
Have a look inside. An ESP will probably fit

I will measure it up

Looks like that would work. I’m totally new to these though so I guess I need to learn about them

Measure the voltage in the base before buying an ESP.

Also locate the ground, most likely the switch grounds the input on the chip
