Lost ability to see energy consumption in energy dashboard after upgrade to 2025.12.0

Hi all,

I recently upgrade my HA installation to 2025.12.0 and I have this issue where I’ve lost my energy (electric) consumption in the energy dashboard. All my individual devices (smart plugs, no whole home monitoring) are still added, but only my gas consumption shows.

All that aside, I’ve uploaded screenshots here. I’m curious to see if anyone has had this problem or maybe I’m missing something.

Thanks

when you edit the energy dashboard, do you still have (or did you have) the ‘electrical grid’ section populated?

you should have your ‘mains’ device configured under grid consumption (historical use/use over time), and the new ‘grid power’ section which lets you see ‘current/instant/now’ power usage.

Hi, I don’t have that/haven’t had that configured as I don’t have a whole home monitoring solution. I just have a couple smart plugs for a couple of devices.

It’s always worked before, so I’m not sure what’s up. Do I just add those to the grid power and consumption section instead?

@Noah_HK you’re not alone - I am seeing the same thing - I also just have select devices. Adding a “me too” so people can see this is more widespread. Suggestion, instead of dog-piling me-toos, please like the thread so we have a count.

Same here - I only had one device, so I decided to edit it, and it looks like they’ve changed how you need to configure things. I updated the config based on the UI selections and now (I have to wait a few hours for new data) it seems to work again.

I’m guessing that the changes they did in the energy display for 2025.12 need us to reconfigure the devices on the dashboard.

I also have a similar issue.

I have the electricity section populated with a whole of home sensor. HA thinks that sensor measures in Watts (when it is in fact kW). It also displays the correct class. I would not expect the incorrect reading of the watts/kilowatts to be the issue, but maybe??

Strangely, the state/values show up only INTERMITENTLY in the default ‘Energy’ dashboard, however, I can ALWAYS see the sensor reading in real-time on a manually created ‘Energy Monitoring’ dashboard - my home is always consuming some amount of energy and we do not have solar contributing back to the grid although I do have a battery that leaks some energy (minute amounts) back to the grid, hence have added an export entity to track this.

Would love to be able to use the out-of-the-box functionality dashboard functionality!
