Lost control of my z-wave devices

Recently I’ve lost control of my z-wave devices from HA. If I toggle a switch on/off I can see the state update in HA. But if I try to toggle the switch from HA nothing happens.

Mainly I see this because none of my automations work any longer.

Any suggestions on where to look?

look at TX/RX under Device info >> 3dot next to configure >> statistics

Look for dropped commands and hi RTT.
If you have battery devices in this devices route or this is battery device maybe replace batteries.

You can look at “rebuild routes” in same area mention above for that one device but I would do that after confirm other items above. rebuilding routes should be used extremely sparingly and only after you check everthing else. Doing this can create issues for other devices especially if you do this to a lot of devices at once.

since the problem is recent it must have good path back to controller so maybe route changed or maybe some temporary inteference / issue.

I kicked off a route calculation as no z-wave device is controllable. We’ll see if that helps when it completes.

This messaging looks suspicious. Should it be reconnecting so often? this is continuous.

A forced mesh recalculation seem a good idea.

If the devices have worked for a while, obviously something has changed (like RF interference, mesh changed).

Any dead nodes? Remove and exclude from the controller as it can occasionally try to contact them (seem a 120S timeout).

If the kit is new, consider updating the Z-Wave coordinator firmware if that’s something you’ve never done. I’ve seen odd timeouts fixed by an update.

It has been running without issue for several years. Just noticed that my bathroom fans no longer turned off automatically :slight_smile:

I did just update my zwave docker.

I flashed the new firmware and while it did work OTA, the behavior is the same.

The device I’m debugging with is about 10 feet from the controller through a single wall.

In case it matters I’m using a: Zooz 700 Series Z-Wave Plus S2 USB Stick ZST10 700

I’m open to buying a new one as well. Suggestions?

Yes. Looks like commmunication zwavejs to controller keeps dropping

This will cause issues with all devices on network and has nothing to due with interference

If problems started after update, consider rolling back and verifying things stabilize. If so, report that.

From whimch version to which?
If all devices have problems this is likely the cause.

I thought only the one device was having issues?
Looking at the stats you posted it looks rock solid and since it connect direct to controller the likely cause is
controller problem if other device effected
Device problem if only the one device effected

None of my z-wave devices are working.

Let me see if I can figure out my previous docker version.

I use zwavejsui v 9.31.0. Released March 2025
Try that.

Current latest version is 10.1.3
You will want to backup your /usr/src/app/store folder and run new container from the backup folder, not original, in case issues occur. You don’t wanna lose this data

I was on latest.

9.31.0 works. Is a bit laggy right after container was rebooted, but will give it a bit.

May be issues in new version but I’m not updating to confirm

Now that it has settled a bit, everything is working as before.
