Lost Entity Finder πŸŽ‰

Detect lost entity references after entity ID changes in Home Assistant AND optionally bulk replace them!

When you change an entity ID (for example sensor.door -> sensor.window), Lost Entity Finder finds automations, scripts, scenes, dashboards, groups, helpers, and YAML files that still use the old ID and raises one repair per changed entity ID with direct links to each location, along with options to ignore or auto-replace in bulk.

Can be installed as a Custom Repo in HACS or manually.

Features

  • Automatically creates repairs
  • Auto-replace option
  • Lost entity count sensor & button to auto-replace all in bulk
  • Service that finds all references to an entity
  • Service that creates a manual old/new repair

Quick example of it in use!

This looks awesome! Thank you so much for not using a full on AI "slop" readme, I think I'll install and try it out!

I find those so frustrating to read, they instantly put me off. The base was AI, then I went through and sorted, edited, removed em-dashes, reworded, added things... basically rewrote it:joy:

Hope it helps! The service calls are helpful for entities that were 'lost' before installation too...

That is a very sharp observation β€” very discerning! :rocket:

Hahahahaha that's what I do for my READMEs as well. Kind of funny that not 2 days ago I renamed three main devices and I didn't have this tool. Now that I have it, I've already done it manually :joy:
