Lost notification actions after installing the Companion App onto another phone

I set up my new Pixel 9a this morning. As part of that I installed the Companion App. All seemed well.

However, now I seem to have lost the ability to use the ‘notify.mobile_app_DEVICENAME’ action, even for previously present devices.

If I go to Developer Tools / Actions and start typing in ‘notif’ there is nothing shown in the dropdown.

The same applies if I try to either modify an existing Automation or just add another action to an existing one - the option is just not there.

The somewhat weird thing is that if I go into an existing automation there is still some[1] information visible there, but not all of it. I can’t see any of the settings. If I go for ‘Run Action’, the notification turns up as expected - complete with formatting and all that.

Where it gets truly weird is if I go into Yaml mode, edit the action to have the name of the new phone instead, save and ‘Run Action’ - the notification pops up on that phone.

I’ve uninstalled the Companion App on the new phone a couple of times. Restarted HA. Nothing seems to bring it back.

Any ideas what could have cause this, or even more importantly - how I could fix it?

I’m now at the point where I might just restore the last backup and see if the same thing happens if I re-install the phone.

Quick update.

Restored the backup. Took quite some time as expected.

Once it was back up and running I went to Developer Tools / Actions. Couldn’t find the action. Felt a bit down.

Went to the Companion App on the old Pixel, and then ‘Developer Tools / Actions’ and the action was there. Back to my browser session, forced a refresh and could see it there.

Now I’ll try to re-install on the Pixel 9a and see if things break again or not.

I reinstalled the app on the Pixel 9a and it now all seems to be working as expected.

Absolutely no idea why it broke this badly, couldn’t see any errors anywhere.

The only thing that nags in the back of my mind is whether or not it could have something to do with the fact that I migrated from the 7a to the 9a using the Google migration tool so to speak?

If anyone have any ideas, please let me know.
