Lutron Caseta dimmers are plain switches

I have the most basic lutron caseta entry in the config file and it auto discovered the elements in my home successfully. However, the two dimmers I have show up in the Overview in the lights pane with simple on/off toggles. Is there a way to configure them as dimmers and control the brightness from HA? Their names are just “Light” so I can’t tell which is which. Is there an auto-generated file somewhere I can customize?

Marc

Marc, I set up my Caseta dimmer switch with names in the Lutron phone app. They show up under lights with a toggle button on the right side of the card, but brightness is selected by selecting the name and the some place on the brightness bar that appears.

You should be able to assign to a custom state card that show a slider appears on the card.

Yep. I see it now. I didn’t understand your comment on the state card. Is that how I change the name? The names in the lutron app are descriptive but didn’t seem to transfer.

You can change the names by:

  1. Select configuration

  2. Select Customization

  3. Select the item that you want to re-name at the top

  4. Select the pencil to the right of the name

  5. Enter the name that you want

  6. Click on save

Go back to Overview the screen should be updated with the new name (you do not have to reload or reboot).

@mlefevre I will let you know as soon as I figure out the custom state cards, maybe tomorrow. :anguished:
