M5Stack Tab5

Hi,

I ran your code on my v2 with the voice assistant working if you want. Your screen is really nice :).

Just got my tab5. I got the newest version with ST7121. Can't get it working with esphome at all. The fixes for v2 (st7123) doesn't seem to work. Looks like its being worked on, so hopefully there will be a fix soon. Its a fun little device.

Thanks! I am glad you like it

Got it working with the help of Claude. Thank you for your code, it really boosted progress on my project. :folded_hands:

I am glad you liked it!

What does that give you as a display?

Hi,

I’m looking for testers to try the different Tab5 variants.
My code runs on the ST7123, and I’d like to see whether it also works on the ILI9881C + GT911 and the ST7121.

The project (the same one as before) is still under development, though.

It has changed quite a bit since my last post, so here’s a more recent look at it:

The easiest way to test is here: M5Stack Tab5 Home Assistant wall screen — ESPHome and LVGL firmware

Any feedback (even “it doesn’t boot”) is welcome, here or on GitHub.

it works but couldt configure it via blueprints

Thanks a lot for testing, and for the feedback!

I made a quick update this morning before leaving for work: step 5 of the install page now explains the Home Assistant side, with an “Import the blueprint” button. I’ll look at it in more detail next week if needed.

Was it the ST7121 build from the install page?

For the blueprint, the order matters:

  1. Download tab5_home_assistant.zip from the latest release, unzip it into HA’s config/ folder, add packages: !include_dir_named packages under homeassistant: in configuration.yaml, restart HA.
  2. Add the tablet (Settings → Devices & services → ESPHome).
  3. Settings → Automations & scenes → Blueprints → “Tab5 — emplacements de l’écran · screen slots” → Create automation, pick up to 5 devices for Room 1, save.

The blueprint needs Home Assistant 2026.8 or later. If it still fails, could you share your HA version and the exact message (or a screenshot)?
