My electric company doesn’t have smart meters yeat but they are planning to. Until then, what is the best way to use energy app?
Back feed consumption from bill?
Read on meter manually?
If so does someone have a tip on how to do that?

Get an electrician to fit your own meter, like the Shelly EM.
That would be ideally but I live in a rental so I don’t want to tinker on things that are not mine. So if there is a work around for it, it would be great.
I don’t mind putting in the values manually
You can enter the values into an input_number then feed that state to a template sensor with the correct state_class (total_increasing) and correct unit_of_measurement (kWh).
Try and keep the time between taking the reading and entering the value as short as possible.
Unless you are reading the meter every hour you’re not going to get anything meaningful on the day view but the weekly and monthly views should give you something if you put at least one reading in a day.
