since updating yesterday I have a bis issue with HA, because Matter stopped working.
It shows this error:
Needs attention
Matter
7 devices and 85 entities
Failed setup, will retry: Failed to get the Matter Server add-on info: Addon core_matter_server does not exist in the store
And under settings there is a repair option that shows this:
Repair issue
Warning ⸱ Reported by Home Assistant Supervisor
Add-on Matter Server has been removed from the repository it was installed from. This means it will not get updates, and backups may not be restored correctly as the supervisor may not be able to build/download the resources required.
Selecting Submit will uninstall this deprecated add-on. Alternatively, you can check Home Assistant help and the community forum for alternatives to migrate to.
I have started this:
Reload AddOn
Restart HA from GUI
Restart HA by power cycling LAN port
Delete AddOn
Tried to reinstall integration (failed, error stating not on store)
Restored from backup
So actually I am completely stuck not being able to control Matter devices wich is kind of sad, because for example my bedroom lights, for wich I had created a helper group, could only be turned on/off by using a Matter switch.
I am running HAOS in this configuration:
Hardware: Raspberry Pi 5 (8 GB, NVME, PoE)
Installation method: native (no docker)
Software releases:
Core: 2025.2.2
Supervisor: 2025.02.4
Operating System: 14.2
Frontend: 20250210.0
Matter version: unable to look it up now but I presume, version 7 was shown on restoring
In this configuration it was running fine until yesterday, when I tried to update to 2025.2.5.
Any help is highly appreciated. To me it looks like the AddOn is either deleted in the integrations store or was altered.
It’s pretty sad to me that the restore did not work out.
I have one question. In HA there is mod beta by matter in the Text in the configuration area. My question is, is matter in HA now in the alpha or is it always now in the beta
Matter is in beta, because the protocol is still developing and so are the Matter integration and addon, due to that fact.
Alpha versions you will only get if you are on the developer channel, and then it is also a big maybe.
Alpha versions are generally an in-house test version only that is rarely seen by the public.
That configuration switch is for those who want to test out a fix or new feature before the version gets released to the general public, and the developer calls it a Beta flag. The other part of your question, I believe the Matter Integration and perhaps the AddOn as well use to show as “Matter (BETA)”, but I don’t see those labels anymore, so perhaps HA Matter as a whole is no longer considered Beta.
