Matter "Failed to generate device credentials" - ZBT2

Running HA OS 18.2 on Pi4 with ZBT-2 radio.

Setup:

  • OTBR add-on running with active Thread network (ha-thread-97be)
  • Thread integration shows network and border router
  • Made ha-thread-97be the preferred network on my phone
  • IPv6 is active in HA (also by command in terminal) and on my local wifi
  • Changed my local HA adress to the allocated IPv6 adress
  • Mulitcast is on on my Zyzel NR5313 - router.
  • Restarted everything 100 times
  • It once gave me an Error “failed to send ICMPv6” - but I reinstalled the Matter-Server Add-on, now I don´t even get a relevant error message - at least not that I can find.

Now everytime I want to connect any Matter-device, it says “Failed to generate device credentials”

Can anyone help me, it is driving me crazy…

I didn’t see it listed, but if you are using the HA Companion App on a mobile device to do the commissioning, then you need to get the Thread credentials from HA onto the mobile device.

I’m not sure what this means precisely, but if it means the Router is also doing IGMP/MLD Snooping it may be blocking mDNS from getting across the Layer2 network and Matter needs to see these.
