Max7219 7-segment display reverse order

I have an 8 digit max7219 7-segment display that displays “01234567” as “7654321”. The time of 3:56:00 is displayed as “00 65 30”

Is there a way to reverse the direction of the display?

Yes, the display is from AliExpress!

Did you read the docs?

reverse_enable

Yup. That only reverses the order of the max7219 chips. Not the order of the 7-segment display.

The display I have only had one max7219 chip.

Here is an update.
I rebuilt the display using discrete 7-segment LEDs. If the left most LED is connected to digit0 on the MAX7219 (pin 2), it is displayed as the last character. Same issue when using Tasmota. Connect the first digit to digit7 (pin 8) and it is now the first digit.
