Media_player.google_speaker → volume_level attribute removed?

I had an automation set up that was using a shell script on my Mac and ssh to detect when I was in a Zoom meeting and adjust the volume of my Google Nest speaker (I think 2nd gen?) accordingly - down to 30% if I’m in a meeting and 60% if I was not in a meeting. The automation was quietly running on a timer and was checking the CURRENT volume so I wouldn’t get little “BONK” notifications from the speaker every 30s.

As of today, after updating recently, it appears as though the volume_level attribute of my media_player is no longer a thing. Can anyone confirm? Anyone know of a workaround? This speaker is also about 5 years old, so maybe I just need a new one?

Thanks in advance!

For me the attribute volume_level is available on my Nest Mini but only if the state of the device is not off, I assume unknown and unavailable behave the same way.

Sweet - I will check that out! I was under the impression that that device defaulted to off unless it was playing media, but I suppose I could insert that as a check and see if the order cooperates.

Thanks for the nudge!
