Has anyone who’s using media player with kodi & and PVR (or something along those lines) upgraded to 2025.10.2? I’m interested if anything has been done to fix the volume buttons, layout and if media browsing is working. Specifically PVR channels.
We use the media player as the remote for all the TV’s in the house. The fam generally tolerate the occasional “oh crap”, but messing with the TVs and them not being able to tune channels didn’t go over well at all. I had to roll back immediately just so I had a place to sleep that night!
I can live with staying on 2025.9.4 to keep the media player working, but I’d like to upgrade to 2025.10.2 to see if the Roborock integration fix worked. We got a new, very expensive vacuum I talked the wife into just for the HA integration but alas, there’s a bug in 2025.9.4 and the integration won’t connect. 2025.10.2 is supposed to fix it.
In short, I’m on strike 2 now so is the media player working any better and does the Roborock integration work with the new bots now?
I know I can always roll back again, but that’s not fun having to repair all the zigbee devices that don’t like rolling back. Broke stuff while I go through the process don’t go over well either and I’m a bit short on good will after the TV remote episode
It’s not a “feature request” when it was working fine before the changes were made.
From my seat I’d call it more of a role back, revert to LGS (last good state), or de-fubar request.
If the changes were implemented to fix a problem then please explain the “why”. It would be a lot easier for folks to accept if there was a reason. I’m all for change but if it was just for the sake of change and in the process it removed functionality then it’s counter productive.
Yeah it is. For better or worse Home Assistant is constantly changing the interface. Sometimes features are removed as part of that process. If you want them back it is a feature request.
When a change is degrades the functionality rather than admitting it and reverting it digging in shouldn’t be the answer.
You never answered the question - why was the change made? Did it solve a problem or did the team just decide to remove functions and add a ton of unneeded white space?
No, along with the loss of the volume buttons and addition of the extraneous white space for whatever reason, the ability to the ability to “browse media” is broke, at least in 2025.10.1. That also effects the ability to assess/select/tune the kodi provided PVR channels as I noted here.
The question was has anything has been done to fix/reinstate the volume buttons the layout and if media browsing is working. Specifically PVR channel browsing/selecting
Most of what you are complaining about is personal preference. You don’t like the look of the new pop-up card. You can check the currently open requests and discussions or open new ones (no duplicates) to make your preferences known here:

That’s more like an issue and should be reported here:
