Meet HASTy - Quick-access Home Assistant Dashboard from your Windows System Tray

Hi everyone,

I wanted a faster way to access my Home Assistant dashboard while working at my PC without needing to keep a browser tab open or reach for my phone, so I built this. There are others out there, but I wanted a few extra features.

HASTy is a lightweight Windows application that lives in your system tray and provides a phone-sized, “pop-up” version of your Home Assistant dashboard with a single click or keyboard shortcut.

It’s been a great addition to my own workflow, so I wanted to share in case anyone else might find it as useful as I do!

:sparkles: Highlight Reel:

  • :keyboard: Global Hotkey - Toggle your dashboard from any app with a custom shortcut
  • :art: Theme Switching - System/Light/Medium/Dark
  • :triangular_ruler: Stable Resize - Drag to your perfect size; it remembers your dimensions exactly
  • :rocket: Start with Windows - Optional auto-start on login
  • :ghost: Auto-hide - Automatically tucks away when you click away (or pin it to stay open)
  • :keyboard: Escape to Dismiss - Quick keyboard shortcut to clear the screen
  • :sparkles: Smooth UI - Snappy fade animations and high-fidelity settings menu

Why it’s useful:

HASTy is designed to be a “set it and forget it” tool. It puts your home controls into a dedicated, phone-sized popup that stays completely out of your way until the moment you need it.

I focused on making the configuration as simple as possible. It features a full Settings menu where you can paste your URL, pick your preferred hotkey, and customize your theme in seconds—no configuration files or code editing required.

Installation:

I’ve put together a standard Windows installer to make it easy to get up and running. Just hit the link below and head to releases on the right side to download it.

GitHub Repository & Download: GitHub - TheAnomalous/HASTy: A lightweight system tray app for Windows that displays your Home Assistant dashboard in a sleek, phone-sized popup window. Features theme switching, Start with Windows option, and quick-dismiss via Escape key.

If you’re looking for a way to make your dashboard feel like a natural, native part of your desktop, I hope you’ll give it a try! If you have any feedback or ideas on how it helps your setup, I’d love to hear them.
