Melnor Integration - Automation triggered by valve turning on by schedule

Hello. I’ve successfully integrated my Melnor bluetooth garden faucet valve timer into Home Assistant using the Melnor Bluetooth integration. Everything is working properly – I can manually open or close the valve, I can set the schedule, the schedule runs as expected.

I’m trying to set up a notification to let me know when each scheduled watering starts and ends. I set up an automation that fires when the switch’s state changes to ON or OFF and that notification works when I manually press the switch or manually control the switch from within home assistant. However the automation doesn’t fire when the scheduled watering starts or stops. The state of the switch remains unchanged when this happens.

Does anyone know what event I need to listen to? I’ve spent the last 30 minutes or so trying to find something related to the schedule, but the best I’ve been able to find is I can listen to the schedule being enabled or disabled. But I haven’t found aything for when the valve opens and close due to scheduled start and end.

It seems that there should be a sensor on the valve itself for when it opens and closes, but I don’t see any such sensor.

FYI, here are the entities I have available for my valve. Should there be any others?

Did you ever find a solution to this?

@hansdg1 No I did not. I was hoping to get alerts when my sprinkler turned on and off while I was away on vacation as I had just resodded my front lawn, but I never got it to work right. Weirdly I would sometimes get random messages that the faucet had turned off, but they didn’t seem to coincide with when the scheduled watering finished.

Now that we’re in the fall I’ve turned off the schedule. I’ll revisit this again in the Spring. Maybe the integration will have been updated by then.
