Hi, in wake of hue requirements of an account, and to improve home automation, I’m making some changes to my lights setup.
currently all my light are connected to an hue hub, managed by hue integration in ha, and are toggled by a classic light switch that cuts the power.
I plan to:
move all bulbs to z2m
install in each light switch socket a ZBMINI2 from sonoff (managed by z2m)
now, is it possible to override an entity property with another?
I want to control light.toggle with the zbmini2 but keep the ability to control brightness and colors of the bulb
In this way the physical switch state matches the bulb state.
The same for groups of bulbs (for example ceiling lamps that have more than one bulb connected)
Is that possible in some way?
Possible by creating a template light and setting it up that way but I’d strongly advise you don’t. Smart bulbs are not designed to be powered on and off like that.
Those bulbs participate as part of a repeater mesh. By powering them on and off like that you’re wrecking the mesh. Who knows what the end result will be but it won’t be nice.
Instead why not look for switching that supports smart bulb mode like the inovelli blue here in the US. It’s designed to keep the load on for the bulbs and simultaneously offer direct bind smart switching to the bulbs.
This is what they have been operated for the last six years, physical switches and smart bulbs and never had any problem.
replacing the switches is not an option, it means to change every outlet and every switch in the house since they are of the same line (bticino magix) which doesn’t have that kind of switching and go on pricier outlets made by bticino or vimar and changing the cabling to keep the load on bulbs so is totally out of discussion
the only option is to install the sonoff zigbee switches connected between the physical switches and the lights, but for that I need to override the option to turn off the bulb and use the zbmini switch instead
