Migrating from Hubitat Integration to ZBT-2

I started out my home automation journey with a Hubitat C7, but earlier this year started migrating to HA on a RPI4. I recreated all integrations and automations, but kept the Hubitat as my Zigbee and Zwave hub via the Hubitat integration in HA. This has been working well, but I think I’m at the point where I want to buy the new ZBT-2 and get rid of the Hubitat.

I have a few questions regarding this:

  • Is it possible to replace or re-pair these zigbee devices with HA natively while not messing up any automations, scripts, or scenes that I’ve created? I know I’ll need to repair them with HA, but I ideally don’t want to have to touch every automation to update them with the new device.
  • If the above is possible, is there a specific order that I should do things? For example: First reset device, then repair with HA, delete existing Hubitat entity or device in HA, rename entity id, etc.

I know this will take some work, but looking for the least destructive way to do this. Thanks

I just use the Hubitat integration to migrate my Hubitat C8 Pro devices to my Home Assistant Green. After replicating all of my automations in HA, I began resetting and pairing the devices with HA. The general syntax of the automations remains intact, but of course the devices / entities need to be changed. It was a lot of work but I’m 100% on HA now. I have the ZBT-1 and ZWA-1 which are working well, no connectivity issues.

Good luck making the move, you won’t regret it!

Got it, that’s the route I was going to take too. Thanks for letting me know it’s all working well! Excited to start down this road too

Firstly, I HIGHLY recommend disabling the “Expose new entities” in Alexa! I wound up with so many entries in Alexa that I did not want. Just add what you want as you go along.

Also after you are done porting your automations , I would delete the devices in Alexa or Tapo or any phone apps they are installed first. Then disable the device in Hubitat. Then disable the imported device in Home Assistant. By that I mean uncheck it in Maker API. THEN reset the device and pair with HA. Then add that to Alexa if needed.

Note that when you eventually delete the Hubitat integration from HA, ALL of the Hubitat devices will be removed.

Good luck!
