I have migrated from a Green to a new Yellow with CM5 and an NVMe drive for more space as I’d pretty much maxed out the Green and, I wanted the extra “grunt” of the CM5 to run Plex etc, plus just speed.
I followed all the advice I could find to do this, backup, restore and so on and managed to get the Yellow up and running no problem, got my system transferred and all seemed to be okay. The system running just fine on the SSD.
But for some reason HAs doesn’t appear to see the internal Zigbee/Thread module, I do not know why. Nor does it see any more than one path to any USB device connected which is causing an issue, more on that below.
This I found out as initially I didn’t have the “old” ZBT1 connected but that was used for Matter/Thread and not Zigbee, I use a SLZB06 for that and that as well as Z2M is working perfectly, migrated without any issue at all.
My intention was to give the Green to a relative with the ZBT1 for him to try out HA but if I need to use the old dongle so be it, it’s not the end of the world but it’d have been nice to use the internal one.
Ditto putting in a GPIO Z-Wave controller, not the end of the world but a hassle and expense I don’t think should be required plus, given all this I can’t be sure that would fix the issue.
However, I’m not sure the external ZBT1 is “right” as although the Matter devices I had (it’s only 8 bulbs) all work just fine, there seems to be an issue with Thread and Border Router as neither seem to see the dongle.
I got all this on digging deeper as I have a problem where an Aeotec ZWA010 Z-Wave dongle which was connected to the Green, along with the ZBT1, is not being seen by HA on the Yellow at all and I’ve tried everything I can to get it recognised. Changed cables, restarted, all that stuff and no joy even though on the Green it worked perfectly and, connecting it to my PC, there is no issue with the dongle itself.
All this got me to thinking that I was perhaps missing something in the change from Green to Yellow and there is perhaps a reason why that these devices are not being seen.
I am relatively new to HAs so I am heavily reliant on the UI, code not so much unless I am pointed in the right direction and, that’s more for fear of breaking things than much else.
But any help would be appreciated.
