Migration from Hassbian: some advices

Hi guys,

I am midway into the process of migrating to Hass.Io from Hassbian.
All is setup and now it is time to migrate:

  • config files (with needed mods)
  • Lovelace config file
  • custom components
  • entity registry, core registry etc…do I need to migrate them?
  • also I am using happy bubbles: do I have to re-add my ibeacons or can I transfer some setting for them? (@happybubbles)
  • should I transfer anything else?

You should transfer everything in the homeassistant folder on your hassio install to the homeassistant folder of your hasbian install.

I don’t know anything about happy bubbles. Are you using the hassio addon? Because obviously that isn’t available for hasbian.

Hi, thanks for your answer.
So I should transfer everything included the whole .storage content?

Yep. You can just transfer the entire folder between installs. That way the new install will pick up right where the old one left off. It’s possible for something to not transfer right but I don’t worry about it unless it happens.

Ok thanks, next weekend I will give it a try and let you know!

i think i remember seeing that sometimes the homeassistant db gets corrupted between the different versions. if so then it’s easy enough to delete the db and when you restart ha it will get re-created. you will just lose your history.

yeah DB is not a problem: i will re-start from scratch

Still need to do it but i have a question: on HA upgrade i was used to check with systemctl status what was going on.
Is it something doable also on Hass.IO?

no one able to answer?
