Yes, it should be compatible, size and weight are definitely within the supported range. I have not yet tried this model, but I believe it is similar to Galaxy Tab A9+ in form factor.

Yes, the current revision supports USB-C to USB-C charging.
At the moment, however, I am still waiting for a new batch of USB-C to USB-C cables to arrive, so orders are currently shipped with the previous cable version (both are supported).
Once the new cables are back in stock, I will be able to include the USB-C to USB-C option with orders.
Just replying so that later i'll be able to find my way back here.
This project is exactly what i'll need later on (1y+ as the property is still being built).
I agree that some magnetic connection would be cool, when i could just simply grab the tablet from the wall and take it, and no wire would be left hanging from the wall.
If i purchase a smart version, will I receive the USB-C to USB-C version?

I haven’t been able to get both Ethernet data and power working with the tablet yet, but I’m hoping the next hardware revision will solve that.

Since the point of your (excellent) mounts is to enable the tablet to be easily removed and remounted, data over PoE (imo) is not really something I desire, since it’ll need to switch to WiFi when I remove it from the mount.
PoE power only is perfect!

Yes, it will work with both the iPad Mini 5 and iPad Mini 6, but
The charging cables are interchangeable, so if you’re using a Lightning iPad today and switch to a USB-C model later, you can simply swap the cable. If you change to a different tablet model, you’ll also need the a new tablet plate.
Regarding battery preservation: not by itself, but the Smart versions include an integrated eFuse that is controlled by the ESP32 and acts as a charging switch. It’s exposed to Home Assistant, so it’s very easy to create charging automations. For example, you can automatically start charging when the battery drops below 20% and stop charging when it reaches 80%. Many users use this approach to reduce the time the tablet spends at 100% charge.
And yes, for the Smart AC version, the wires coming from the wall are standard mains power wires. The mount has a built-in AC-to-DC power supply that converts 230V/110V AC to 5V DC for the tablet.
There are also other versions available:
- Smart LV – powered from an external 5V USB-C power source.
- PoE – powered directly from an 802.3af PoE switch or injector.
One thing to keep in mind is that the mount provides standard 5V charging at up to around 1.5A and does not support USB Power Delivery (PD) negotiation. For wall-mounted dashboard tablets this is usually more than sufficient, as the tablet is continuously powered and not expected to fast-charge from a low battery level.
