Moen Flo requires cloud or can it be local only?

Looking to get a whole home flood/leak valve, and so far the Moen Flo looks nice.

Can it be local only? and if so, can it connect via Zigbee? I see in the pages FAQs it says “it currently integrates with Alarm.com, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Nice and Ring.” but I dont use any of those.

I see HA has a Moen Flo Integration, but is that for cloud only?

Anyone care to share their experiences with the FLO? Would be appreciated…

Thanks

According to the integrations page the IoT class is Cloud Polling

Thank you, I see that and now it seems obvious lol…

I am glad you asked, I missed the ‘Cloud Polling’ tag too.

Have you found a local option since originally posting this question?

I just started looking for a water pressure monitor and the Flo device looks like it would do that and more. However, I’m generally not willing to consider cloud-only devices.

No I have not found a local only device on caliber with the Flo. The quality and function of the device is first priority over local/cloud in this case. This is a pretty important piece of hardware…

fwiw, I have the Moen Flo and HATE it. It has “smart” features that are neither smart nor features. Specifically, it will auto shut off water when it thinks there is a leak, which includes guests taking showers or kids taking showers at odd times. The false positive rate is high, and there is little flexibility besides disabling for a period of time. (My insurance company requires it, but would not use otherwise).

Interesting… Thanks for the info… Do you think maybe that can be helped by some configuration setting?

Has anyone found a local only support for this device?
